Getting the name of the
networked printer
A networked printer can have up
to 3 names:
1) The name by which it can be found on the
network;
2) The IP address which has been assigned to it;
3) A nick name assigned to it.
To install a printer, you must
know either 1) or 2) from the above list. If someone else has the printer installed, you can find the information
needed on their computer:
To find the network name of the
Printer
1) Click Start - Settings - Printer
2) Right-click the printers name and left-click on Properties
3) The name is now displayed next to the picture of the printer.
To find the IP address
of the Printer
1) Start with the first three steps from above
above.
2) Click the Ports tab, and widen the first column, to display the IP addresses of
the printers.
